đź—ł️ Civic Engagement and Homeownership: Two Sides of the Same Key By Walter Washington, MPA, REALTOR® | ABR® • AHWD® • C2EX® Certified As a REALTOR®, I spend my days helping people achieve one of the most significant milestones of their lives: homeownership. But there's another cornerstone of building a strong community that I believe goes hand in hand with owning a home, and that's showing up at the ballot box. The Homeowner-Voter Connection Think about it. When you own a home, you have a direct stake in what happens in your community. Property taxes fund your local schools. Zoning decisions shape your neighborhood's future. Infrastructure investments affect your property value and your daily commute. The people we elect, from city council to Congress, all make decisions that ripple through every street, every subdivision, every living room in Central Arkansas. Homeowners vote at significantly higher rates than renters. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's Current P...

PropTech Pulse: How AI is Revolutionizing Central Arkansas Real Estate—Without Replacing the Human Touch By Walter Washington, MPA, ABR® | Your Real Estate Advocate Innovation shows up everywhere—even on Capitol Hill. At the recent REALTORS® Legislative Meetings, technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) dominated the conversation. But the biggest, most reassuring takeaway from the event is clear: while AI is accelerating at a breakneck pace, human expertise remains our industry's ultimate differentiator. As a licensed REALTOR® and Fiscal Officer for the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, I spend my days analyzing data, managing multi-budget logistics, and advocating for community empowerment. Technology is a powerful tool to make these processes more efficient, but trust, local knowledge, and strategic guidance are things an algorithm simply cannot replicate. According to the National Association of REALTORS® ( PropTech Pulse June 2026 Issue ), let's dive into th...

Landmark Housing Bill Clears Congress: What the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act Means for Arkansas By Walter Washington, MPA, ABR® | Your Real Estate Advocate Big changes are on the horizon for the U.S. housing market. After nearly two years of sustained advocacy from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and its 1.5 million members, Congress has officially passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act . This sweeping package represents the most significant federal housing legislation in nearly two decades. As a licensed REALTOR® and a long-time community advocate, I am thrilled to see lawmakers come together in a bipartisan way to tackle the affordability crisis head-on. The bill now heads to the White House, where it is expected to be signed into law.
